Rovell was incorporated in Alberta, Canada, in 1980. Since that time Rovell has been a majority shareholder in multiple start up companies, including the Alphatel group of companies in Alberta (Alphatel Systems, Alphatel Research and Development, Alphatel Videotex Directories, Alphatel Computer Products).
In 1996, operations were transferred to the National Capital Region, and Rovell was registered Federally. In 2000, Rovell founded the elearning company, Automated Learning, eventually expanding to a suite of courses in manufacturing, safety and security, and Lean practices. In 2012, Rovell set up a Rovell Ceative division focused on book writing/publishing, photography, and film production. The largest Rovell project was the production (2016-19) of the dystopian feature film "Corporate Prey". In 2024, management of the Automated Learning division was transferred to SMT Industrial, headquartered in Barrie, Ontario.Dr. Bob Abell is a business owner, an author, a teacher, and an environmentalist. He has published one non-fiction book in the area of business, politics, and economy, together with three novels, including "The Corporation" which is the basis for the movie "Corporate Prey".
